The Artist "In The Flesh"

Hello Fellow Art Lover

Welcome to my Blog page.  I seem to have so much to share, and I am so glad that you have come (or arrived at) this page.  It gives me an opportunity to introduce myself, and to show you my art items.

I enjoy the journey into art and its production.  My instructors at Newcastle Art School have been a tremendous inspiration and resource.  The artists that I most admire are Van Gogh, Dufy and those who occupied the Artists' Camps during the founding years of Australian Impressionism.

Paintings - Season: Spring.

With the arrival of Spring, the outlook is getting sunnier:

This is a park directly opposite St Vincent's Hospital in Darlinghurst.  After visiting a sick friend I was struck by the sunny nature of the park and its visitors.

Bondi Beach is famous for its surf and sand.  But the happiness of the visiting tourists and beach-goers is hopefully reflected in this cheery view of its nearbye buildings.

Paintings - Season: Autumn

Winter was a pretty gloomy period and this seems to show in the works that I did then:

Platform 21 (2009)
Central Station is such a busy place, packed with people - yet the platform architecture still dominates the scene.  The combined platforms plus people give the location an air of vitality (acrylic on canvas, 51 x 40 cm).

Sydney Harbour Bridge (2009)
In Sydney to see the opening of the MCA, and glimpsed the bridge through the sunny haze.  It is a great sight to see - but so very hard to capture on canvas (acrylic on canvas, 51 x 40 cm)

Now that Spring is here, the world looks sunny and bright:

Cafe, Darlinghurst

There is a natural vitality about the inner-city suburbs: Carlton, Collingwood, Newtown and (here) Darlinghurst. We just seem to love a burst of being in a vibrant, busy scene where people meet people.

Wine is a drink of rich complexity, but it grows in simple surrounds: rows of grapes, rich earthy soil, and the right mix or sunshine and rain.  A scene that is so nice to gaze at.

Drawings from France

DRAWINGS

FROM  FRANCE

In Montmartre (2010)

Every visit to Paris takes in the great view from Montmartre.  But even more exciting was walking past an apartment house where the great Van Gogh lived.  "The Best Artist Who Ever Lived" was standing in this spot, on this footpath.  What an amazing feeling!
